Ask an answerable question (PICO):
The aging of the population has become an irreversible trend in the world. Among the many aging and health issues, the problem of falls is the most important issue. The physical injury and quality of life caused by the fall of the elderly are affected. The burden on the family and society is reduced. The most important goal of the hospital. Form a clinical question-to explore whether lower limb muscle strength training can reduce the occurrence of falls in the elderly?
PICO questions: P: Elderly people, I: Lower limb muscle exercises, C: Routine care, O: Falling.
The Method and Analysis of Literature Review:
The empirical literature search database includes: Cochrane library, PubMed, Embase, Chinese electronic journal database search. Keywords include: P (older people, Elderly, older adults), I (Muscle Strength of Lower Extremities, Exercise), C (Routine care), O (Falls, Falls prevention, Incident Falls).
The keywords are consistent with PICO, Me SH term search, use the Boolean logic principle, and connect with AND, and the selection language is Chinese and English.
Critical Appraisal:
Search results for 2015-2020: A total of 39 articles in the Chinese and English literature database, of which repetitions, non-RCT, non-SR studies, research design methods that do not meet PICO, and low grades are deducted. After the documents are excluded and deleted, a total of 3 articles are evaluated and adopted The 2013 version of CASP is a tool for evaluating SR articles to evaluate the validity, importance and applicability (VIP) of the literature.
Results, Conclusions and Recommendations:
This article aims to explore whether lower limb muscle strength training can improve the occurrence of falls in the elderly? After the formation of PICO, using empirical medical strategies, searching and screening relevant documents and rigorously analyzing 3 documents, it is understood that increasing lower limb muscle strength training can improve the muscle endurance of elderly patients, prevent dynamic balance and delay disability as a muscle strengthening program And self-care ability, improve the quality of life, provide clinical reference and expect to be used in clinical care, implement patient safety, and create a win-win care for medical and disease.
